How fast Can I Become A Doctor of medicine if I take summer classes?
If I use all the resources available how long will it take me to get my undergraduate and then attend a 4 year medical school (FSU) is there a way I can take online classes and summer classes to expedite the process. I am studying to become a massage therapist right now and something has just clicked in my head and I realized that I could help allot of people with my intellect, knowledge of the body, understanding of pharmacueticals and pathologies and my compassionate nature by Becoming A doctor.. possibly geriatric or an oncologist.. possibly a pain management specialist.
I’m 27 years old now and would like to take the 10-12 year process (residency included) and cut it down to 8.. is that possible if I worked non-stop???
Medical school is already an 11 month or so process, no summers off. You can accelerate through your UG but you might get burnout, and you must have time to study for the MCAT as well. You could also become a Physician Assistant–that is usually six years, there is a great deal of autonomy and you get to probably have more hands on help with people. Geriatric is/will be in high demand that would be a plus.

The Doctor and You $3.48 The Doctor and You is a book for any young child who will experience a trip to a doctor’s office, hospital, or health clinic. The photographs familiarize children with many of the medical instruments and machines they are likely to encounter during their visit, allowing them to become more comfortable with doctors and hospitals. By showing how specific instruments are used to examine or treat them, children become comfortable with how they work and what they accomplish. Some of the tools examined include: a scale, a reflex hammer, a tongue depressor, an electronic thermometer, an ophthalmoscope, an otoscope, a stethoscope, blood pressure equipment, blood sampling equipment, a syringe, an X-ray machine, and casts for setting broken bones. Control over their own bodies is very important to young children. Their role with each medical tool is emphasized through a special feature called "Your Job" that briefly explains what children can do to help with the procedure, providing a positive and active role in their own health care. All information is presented in a positive manner. For instance, the book does not include "taking temperatures" because research has shown that many young children think this means that something is actually being removed from them. Potential fears associated with medical procedures, such as the belief that X-rays reveal secrets, are also addressed in a comforting and honest manner. A special page has been included for parents that offers pointers for discussions. Follow-up play activities geared towards helping children feel more comfortable about visiting a doctor are suggested. The Doctor and You is illustrated with 23 color photographs taken at a children’s hospital and several line drawings. |

The Doctor Is in $12.48 On the day the doctor comes to the farm, ten animals line up in the barnyard. They whinny, moo, and bark, wishing that their aches and pains would go away. The animals checking in with the nurse include a pig with a runny nose, a horse with a stone in his shoe, a lamb with burrs in her coat and a rooster with a cut on his beak. There’s also a cow with a bellyache, a rabbit with a cut on his back, a crow who can’t fly, a goat who cut his mouth on a tin, a cat with a kink in his tail and a dog with a swollen paw. How will the doctor be able to help them all? "The Doctor’s In" is a wonderful tale that teaches pre-school and kindergarten-age children that a visit to the doctor doesn’t have to be a scary or painful experience. |

Becoming a Doctor: From Student to Specialist, Doctor-Writers Share Their Experiences $21.48 In this poignant collection, doctors who are writers (and vice versa) relate their real-life journeys from intern to specialist, student to teacher, reflecting on the rewards, disillusionments, and triumphs encountered along the way. Featuring a wide array of distinguished voices, including Peter Kramer, Kay Redfield Jamison, Robert Coles, Lauren Slater, Sandeep Jauhar, and Perri Klass, these original stories create a vivid mural of the medical world and provide invaluable insight for both doctors in training and longtime physicians. Becoming a Doctor portrays the broad arc of a doctor’s life, from a medical student’s uneasy first encounter with a cadaver and her realization that the experience’s redemption will lie ahead in the lives saved, to a resident’s reliance on dance during her grueling year in an inner-city hospital, and a veteran doctor’s profound ruminations on what it means to really listen to a patient’s story. |

When Doctors Become Patients $43.98 For many doctors, their role as powerful healer precludes thoughts of ever getting sick themselves. When they do, it initiates a profound shift of awareness– not only in their sense of their selves, which is invariably bound up with the "invincible doctor" role, but in the way that they view their patients and the doctor-patient relationship. While some books have been written from first-person perspectives on doctors who get sick– by Oliver Sacks among them– and TV shows like "House" touch on the topic, never has there been a "systematic, integrated look" at what the experience is like for doctors who get sick, and what it can teach us about our current health care system and more broadly, the experience of becoming ill. The psychiatrist Robert Klitzman here weaves together gripping first-person accounts of the experience of doctors who fall ill and see the other side of the coin, as a patient. The accounts reveal how dramatic this transformation can be– a spiritual journey for some, a radical change of identity for others, and for some a new way of looking at the risks and benefits of treatment options. For most however it forever changes the way they treat their own patients. These questions are important not just on a human interest level, but for what they teach us about medicine in America today. While medical technology advances, the health care system itself has become more complex and frustrating, and physician-patient trust is at an all-time low. The experiences offered here are unique resource that point the way to a more humane future. |

Doctor Cavallo $24.48 Purchase of this book includes free trial access to www.million-books.com where you can read more than a million books for free. This is an OCR edition with typos. Excerpt from book: CHAPTER III. "It is the noblest of professions and the meanest of trades, ” said Dr. Maurice Cavallo to himself, " and if that is the way old Father Hippocrates found it what can a fellow expect in these degenerate days?" and so saying, he drew forth a match, searched in his pockets, found a cigar, and lighting it, proceeded to pour forth a cloud of smoke. In this occupation he was standing before his window contemplating the street and watching it rain, when he saw Bob Lawrence go by and he hastily knocked on the window to attract his attention. That individual, on seeing who it was that was calling to him, stopped, closed his umbrella, and soon could be heard stamping up stairs. He opened the office door, stood his umbrella up in a corner where the surplus water would run into a tin basin in which the Doctor had "a culture." Dr. Cavallo started at first to stop him, but as the special bacteria had long since died out, a result of too much crowding, he desisted, and watched the other settle himself in a chair, pull a cigar out of his pocket, light it, and then fish around for a match. This found, he joined in, and they steadily sent out a cloud of smoke together. Finally, the Doctor found time to put the question that he had been aching to ask and yet hesitated from some unaccountable impulse to do. "How is your sister?" "Oh," said Bob, "she is all right; no worse since you dismissed the case. Ugly thing this diphtheria. Do you know that I had half a notion to be a doctor myself? Seidel talked so much to me about it that I had a great mind to become a ‘dig’ and try for a profession." Cavallo laughed. " Let me congratulate you on your escape." "Oh yes," said Bob, "I know all about it. Settle in some town, go in and physic the poor; treat everybody, pay or no pay… |

How to Become a Millionaire $14.99 How to Become a Millionaire shows you in an easy-to-read way how to take a few simple steps to financial freedom. The authors explain the eighth wonder of the world, the power of compounding, showing how with relatively small regular savings you can produce a very significant capital sum. Did you know, for example, that with growth at the same rate as the UK stock market over the last 20 years, £5,000 a year would produce £2 million in 25 years? But that is only half the story. By using an ISA mortgage to finance the purchase of your house or flat you can harness two of the world’s best-performing financial assets, property and shares. How to Become a Millionaire shows you how to set them to work for you at the same time. And believe it or not, the capital profits you make on both will be tax free! Endowment mortgages should be avoided like the plague. If you are already saddled with one, the authors show you how to calculate whether or not to run it to maturity and how to get the best price if you decide to surrender the policy. There is no need to worry about the complexities of the stock market. You will be shown how to invest in tracker funds or a simple high-yield system that will take you less than an hour a year to use. If you want to become a more active investor, the authors give you a taste of the two most popular methods and point you in the right direction to progress further. There is no need to fantasise about winning the lottery. Written by Jim Slater, one of the country’s leading investment experts, and Tom Stevenson, the former City Editor of Independent, this book is a clear blueprint for making your first million. It really could be you. |

How to Become Wise $1 This book offers the guidance to learn exactly what is wisdom and how one can become wise. All the philosophers from the ancient times to the present have tried and failed to define wisdom beyond defining it by its attributes. Sajid has taken wisdom from the realm of philosophy and put it firmly in the realm of science. The 200 aphorisms contained here, first published as 'knols' on the web, give exact insights into the nature of the self and how it can be mastered. Lack of emotional intelligence education is a very big factor in the current world mess from economics to education and everything else in between. This book provides practical answers to many of these problems. It provides an opportunity to create a super mature society through emotional intelligence education which at the highest super mature stage is wisdom. These knollettes are remarkable for their beautiful clearness and simplicity of form. Wisdom is no longer a mystery any more and everyone can become wise. |

How To Become Like Christ $4.89 I suppose there is almost no one who would deny, if it were put to him, that the greatest possible attainment a man can make in this world is likeness to The Lord Jesus Christ. Certainly no one would deny that there is nothing but character that we can carry out of life with us, and that our prospect of good in any future life will certainly vary with the resemblance of our character to that of Jesus Christ, which is to rule the whole future. We all admit that; but almost every one of us offers to himself some apology for not being like Christ, and has scarcely any clear reality of aim of becoming like Him. Why, we say to ourselves, or we say in our practice, it is really impossible in a world such as ours is to become perfectly holy. One or two men in a century may become great saints; given a certain natural disposition and given exceptionally favouring circumstances, men may become saintly; but surely the ordinary run of men, men such as we know ourselves to be, with secular disposition and with many strong, vigorous passions – surely we can really not be expected to become like Christ, or, if it is expected of us, we know that it is impossible. On the contrary, Paul says, "We all," "we all." Every Christian has that for a destiny: to be changed into the image of his Lord. And he not only says so, but in this one verse he reveals to us the mode of becoming like Christ, and a mode, as we shall find, so simple and so infallible in its working that a man cannot understand it without renewing his hope that even he may one day become like Christ. Marcus Dods (1834 – 1909) was a Scottish divine and biblical scholar. He was a minister of the Free Church of Scotland (1843-1900). He was born at Belford, Northumberland, the youngest son of Rev. Marcus Dods, minister of the Scottish church of that town. |

How to Become Clairvoyant [LP] $24.99 How to Become Clairvoyant is Robbie Robertson’s first album since Contact from the Underworld of Redboy in 1998. The new album was co-produced by Robertson and Marius de Vries (Massive Attack, Bj?rk, and Rufus Wainwright), and recorded over two years in London and Los Angeles. Robertson wrote eight of the album’s 12 tunes, co-wrote three with Eric Clapton (who appears numerous times on both guitar and vocals) and one with de Vries. There’s an all star musician’s guest list that includes Steve Winwood, Trent Reznor, Robert Randolph, Tom Morello, and Angela McLuskey. Robertson’s backing band includes bassist Pino Palladino, drummer Ian Thomas, pianist Martin Pradler, and backing vocalists Angelyna Boyd, Daryl Johnson, and Rocco Deluca. How to Become Smarter $3.79 This book describes techniques for improving mental abilities. Some of the things it can help you to achieve include the following: Depending on circumstances, use different lifestyles that improve one or another mental function. Experience euphoria without drugs and come up with new ideas, when needed. Slow down and prevent yourself from making rash, impulsive decisions, when necessary. Sharpen your wit, become more talkative, and entertain people. When necessary, lower your mood and increase emotional tension, which can help reduce procrastination. Increase your score on intelligence or general aptitude tests. Concentrate on reading and writing for many hours daily. Increase your grade point average if you are a student or improve your job productivity if you are a knowledge worker. Get along with people and live without arguments and conflicts. The proposed methods are brief cooling or heating of the body (water therapy) and three different "smart diets," each suitable for a different type of task. The text also describes a "depressant diet," which is not a smart diet but can improve self-control and sleep. The strict diets do not have to be used on a permanent basis and the conventional food pyramid is recommended most of the time. Several useful social skills and studying/writing techniques are also discussed. Most authors in this field will tell you that you should read more books, solve mental puzzles, buy their nutritional supplements, sleep well, exercise, etc., in order to get smarter. In contrast, this book is proposing moderately cold hydrotherapy and a smart diet (which involves avoiding all dietary supplements). To give another example, most books on anger management say that you should try to change your thinking in order to overcome anger, while this book suggests hot hydrotherapy and the exclusion of certain foods from your diet. The main focus of discussion in this text is on changing the biological workings of the brain, not on pop psychology. Particularly, the book describes various combinations of diets and hydrotherapy that have the following effects: sedative/sleep-promoting, stimulant/wakefulness-promoting, attention-enhancing, antianxiety, antidepressant, mood-stabilizing (mood-lowering), and euphoriant. Additionally, existing scientific evidence of pain-reducing, fever-reducing, anti-fatigue, immunostimulatory, antinausea, and anti-inflammatory effects of hydrotherapy is also presented. The possible side effects of the diets and hydrotherapy are discussed as well. Despite its technical content, the book is written in an accessible language and has an informative summary for each chapter and a list of key points at the end of each section. Most of the claims in the bulleted list above are supported by a theory and the author’s personal experience (a healthy subject). About a half of these claims are directly supported by previously published scientific studies, incl |
